The Federal Capital Territory Administration Social Development Secretariat, SDS, has rescued a 56-year-old retired Marine Engineer who tried to commit suicide 5 instances in Abuja.
The Acting Director, Social Welfare Services of the SDS, Sani Amar, who disclosed this in an interactive session with newsmen in Abuja on Tuesday, October 26, stated that the secretariat acquired a report from one workers member.
“The man, who attempted to commit suicide several times, used a plastic bag to cover his head so as not to be noticed,” Mr Amar stated.
“On getting the data we moved quick to avoid wasting his life which is in keeping with the FCT Administration’s coverage below the FCT Minister of State, Dr Ramatu Aliyu, who’s wanting to rid Abuja of a human nuisance.
“He instructed us he needs to finish his life as a result of he was utterly hopeless, homeless and has nowhere to go. In truth this morning, he instructed me for the previous 4 days he has not had something to eat. He was hungry and sick,” he stated.
Amar stated the secretariat would take him to the hospital for correct medical investigation and a focus.
“We have contacted the Rivers State Liaison Office in Abuja in order that they will hint his household,” he stated.
Amar stated the minister of state has directed the secretariat to make sure that humanitarian companies are supplied to the appropriate people who find themselves in want.
Earlier, the person stated that he tried to commit suicide on the Mabushi Expressway, Jabi Lake Bridge.
“I made a decision to finish my life as a result of I’m hopeless, homeless. My solely home in Kabusa, was demolished. I’ve nowhere to go. I’m sick and I can’t afford medical payments. Somebody took me to a well-liked radio station to see if they will resolve my issues. When we reached there the individual was requested to carry a police report, he disappeared and by no means got here again,” he stated.
